PermaSharp Soooooooopa! (one)

Mmm...lazy shave to get through the last days of the working week. Typing this post out took longer I think. PSS just feels like it will never cut you. Zoooom!

Shave three with the Gillette SS Oz Oz Oz blade.

R41
Gillette Super Stainless
Proraso soap
Semogue LE Boar

No finisher, I'm tough.

So this is the third shave with this blade.

It isn't the best feel on the skin and the shave this morning was slow and careful.

So no cuts or nicks but it has left a bit of stubble even after a two pass shave.

I'm keeping notes and will do a thread on this blade this weekend.

I'm not hopeful for a ten shave attempt. It feels like three or four might be the limit.

Shave 11 with astra............

I'm gonna say it, and I think I speak for all of us here........I don't believe it. We want appropriately witnessed and notarised witness statements, unaltered videos and pictures and the results of properly supervised lie detector tests. Without these, I think you're just trying to wind us up!

I suspect he only has 11 whiskers - shaves one a day :)

That's the only reasonable explanation I can think of.

I'm down to my last Derby, still using the #16 Aristocrat. Switching between Ingrams, TOBS and Arko.

The Derby does the job, but I'm looking forward to using something better

30C
PSS
Proraso green

Just getting outstanding, super comfy shaves with the 30c. It loves the PSS particularly, but Reds, Astras and SIs are good too. I have to admit it, his razor beats out the 34c.

Yes. for me, it beats the 34C. I can safely say that, as I've had it a few months now.

As you know, nothing could shift me off the 34. I did find it a bit aggressive at times, and if I pushed it with an Astra, I'd get a little irritation. Nothing a good shower of AS wouldn't deal with, but I've been left a bit prickly on those occasions.

I never really expected anything from the 30C other than a decent razor to use while I clean up and rested the 34c. But it turns out to be just as efficient, but milder. Mild usually means not shaving close enough, but this one does. It could be just that it's a bit lighter, or the head gap is a little less. Don't know.

Anyhow, now the 34 is the back up razor.

This morning was a repeat of the last.

  • Fatboy
  • Silver Blue - probably 5th shave
  • Proraso 'old' Green tube
  • Smoggie 730HD

The SB will go to pasture now. Still good on the WTG but the XTG was found to be lacking. Still a good shave with care and attention paid.

We can't be friends any more!

Good to see Drubs is learning some new tricks though. New Razor, New blade, New brush - can barely call him jaded any more!

Maybe I need to add chin cam to help verify astra longevity. Also the guys at shaver shop brisbane said I should get months from merkur blades.

I do used skin stretching same as when I use a straight razor.

Midday chin cam. 7h post shave after astra on 11th shave. Will follow tomorrow with pre and post shave. Oh this morning was single pass too!!!

Might be the futura i dont push my slim that hard. And if I use astra in a shavett I get 3-4 shaves per half blade max.

...........Anyhow, now the 34 is the back up razor.

Doing better than me. I've got no back up DE razor I like to use. It's the bakelite toy all the way. I tell a lie. I've got a second identical bakelite toy razor but I guess that doesn't count.

Yeah that's believable info from them...Shaver Shop guys are always honest.

These are the same people who charge 200% more than anyone else for gear and believe a wet shaver is an electric shaver with a moisturising strip on it...

Okay chin cam here we go.

Astra 12 still nice and smooth
Tabac soap with travel brush
Blade held by merkur futur the ultimate DE shaver.

Not a great photos but more than 11 hairs if baby fluff lol

Nice and smooth, my pale skin means i never can quite escape the grey beard line look. And it's almost as smooth as when I use a straight razor.

............Blade held by merkur futur the ultimate DE shaver............

Emphasis on the blade rather than the razor which has been given the role of blade holder. I like it! Spoken like a true straight user. But honestly, how can a straight razor dude who by definition appreciates sharp edges and excellent steels, be fooled by something as bog average as an Astra blade. I still believe it's a wind up.

I can't handle it any more! Ybbor, PM me your address and I'll post some real blades out to you. Christ, I've become a Razormonsta clone. I can't handle that either

What worries me is the reference to ablutions. Was the guy having a dump too? That would be amazing if he could shave, excrete and drive all at the same time.

Astra 13th and 2 pass today.

Melbourne water with tabac and FS travel brush, I am loving melbourne water for foam, and a merkur futur.

Was a really nice shave.

As for better blades for me the feather works well for me but not as smooth and doesn't last as long. Now I have quite a collection of blades but what do people rate better than astra or feather and are they current?

Am thinking to do a blade review matrix now what shall we put into it to rank blades? Cost longevity availability? I will start a blade review thread then.

Mate I think RM has done reviews of almost every blade there is. Not a lot of people rate the feathers simply because they're so bloody sharp.
