This joint looks a bit different.

Long time no post! I joined the Army Reserve a while ago, and just spent a month in Kapooka. Then I went to Sale for two weeks to learn to drive a Land Rover. It was an experience, but I'm happy to be home. Only disposables allowed there, so it's nice to have a proper shave.

Prize winning combo of iKon SB, Duke 2 and Tabac. Like riding a bike, super smooth shave compared to the last couple of months. When I was in Italy last year I stocked up on the Proraso white aftershave, and it gets a special mention for being very soothing and good for abused skin. It saved me a bit of discomfort in training, and between the speed shave and the heat and activity, my skin could've wound up pretty rough and ragged. I'm a bit out of practice with the lathering though, I used canned Proraso at Kapooka. It's not so bad when you're in a rush, but I had a good time going back to my normal shaving ritual.

Yeah I get that but seriously - since living in CBR and having some interaction with the regulars I have gained an enormous respect for what they do. Some of that must rub off on you part-timers too

Could have continued on with the amazing Schick Plus Platinum. It wasn't as sharp as day one but still smooth and no tugging. Decided after nearly a month to give the razor a clean and load a vintage Wilkinson. I should insert a load of smileys but assuming that people will actually read this post that in itself should be enough.

Anyhow......BOT......

Just had a first shave with a vintage Wilkie.
Of course not much I conclude regarding longevity but it's very sharp and very smooth. If it keeps this up for another half a dozen it's a winner.
As for the rest:
Re-knotted (TGN finest) butterscotch handle
Speick stick - Haven't used Speick for a while. Forgot how good it is. Stick's running low. Might have to buy a new one soon or get a tub of their new stuff.

Good to hear Pj. I think they are very good blades, but definitely not the top flight 'Light Brigade' Wilkies. Likely to be roughly equivalent to the Schicks and the Personna Platinum Chrome I sent out for the travelling vintage blades.

I should think 8 shaves would be possible. I did get your PM, will answer shortly.

As for me... last two shaves have been:

• White Platinum, shaves 3&4
• Pureman Open Comb prototype
  
• Jack Black 'Supreme Cream' sampler
• Smoggie 730HD & Muhle Bowl

The platinum is showing the first signs of pulling on shave 4. Probably good for one more.

The Jack Black cream is really nice. Has Macadamia oil in it, and leaves the skin very refreshed. I think there might be some tobacco extract in there too as it has the 'Alt Insbruck' note to it. Probably would not buy it but not bad at all.

I've thought the Jack Black products all look overpriced fir what they are.

I did have a bottle of Jack Black cologne that was really nice. Black Signature, I think it was.

Hard to tell people what it is without them thinking it is Jack Black the musician/actor's line of products.

Butterscotch re-knot
TOBS Lemon/Lime cream-Got a generous sample from the Jugster . I can see why you @JugV2 refer to it as having a lemon popsicle scent. It's very nice and refreshing. Economical too.
My trusted razor with vintage Wilkie on no 2. Awesome blade so far. Very sharp and very smooth.

Done a few since last post.

Spoiler in Slim is working well atm. I have found running these a click back (5) for the first couple of shaves helps with the early aggro from the spoiler. Back up to 6 or 7 from there.

ARKO! and Ingrams have been doing the bulk of the work with the regular brushes.

I used the Wilkinson English blade with TTO Super-Adjustable courtesy of @Pjotr.

TOBS Lemon Lime and a Semogue LE Boar.

Wonderful shave, I had three days whiskers.

Smooth, clean and unblemished.

Would use again

What setting did you have it on? I've been told they're the most aggressive of TTOs and going low is the way to go. I haven't plucked up the courage to use the R41 yet.

Generally the Super Adjustables are 2-3 stops higher than the Fatboys. They do vary a bit by year, the mid-late 70's probably more than the rest.

iKon SB w/ Astra SS, Duke 2 and Wilkinson shave soap. I picked up the Wilkinson in Italy for pretty cheap and it's taken me this long to give it a go. First impressions are generally positive. It's reasonably hard and has a fairly neutral soapy scent with perhaps a hint of fragrance. Kind of sweet and slightly fruity. It loads nicely and lathers up extremely easily, but it was a little dry on my face this time around. That should clear up with some repeat use as I get used to the water required. Protection and cushion was good, though the Astra SS wasn't really giving it much to protect against. Slickness and glide was average, but I expect that will also improve as I get to grips with the new soap.

I really like the Proraso white aftershave balm. Soothing and good for the skin, and it doesn't dry greasy or slick. Great stuff.
