R41 a continuation - same setup as before - Tabac and the Indian Wilkinson. I must admit I thought at first I would like this razor but I confess after 2 shaves it really isn't my cup of tea (or if your not careful liter of blood).
Both times I used it I felt I had to be very careful as scarring was just a slip away. The fact that the blade felt like it was twisting on my face didn't help. Even with a new blade in my SE razor, I never felt the inhibition levels that using this leads to. The notion that if you judge the angle wrong by fractions of millimetres will lead to a nasty cut made the shaving experience one of trepidation rather than relaxation. So who is next for what is essentially a blade on a stick because twice is enough for me.

Shave No 5 with the vintage Aiussie Gillette and it just died on me. Strange as it initially felt like a 10 shave blade. Oh well it's a nice blade but for me not a stayer obviously. Just slightly better than MUM would have to be my overall conclusion,

Sorry SYD, but which region of your body were you shaving? Could be a good pick up line but not really appropriate here.
Used some great that had been hidden at the back of the cupboard for a while.
Feather in the EJ89
Omega 10005 in Nanny's ice and a slice soap.
This was only the 2nd feather I have ever used and I'm glad it was in the ej89 and not the Fatboy or red ring. As much as you are warned the sharpness of that first pass is a shock.
I am seriously conflicted about nanny's ice and a slice soap (menthol and lemon). It has a really nice menthol hit but I just struggle to get a good leather out of it. I had to lather up again to get enough for a second pass.

A nice shave. Zero bleeders and pretty smooth - not 100% BBS…but then that's not my objective.
First off the Duke is settling in nicely. Only shave no.4 together but it's already becoming a friend - softening up but still nice and firm. I love the structure and the feel - its shaping up to be a great face latherer. I'm getting to know the pressure it likes…and how it likes to play with Cella. I realised tonight that previously I haven't been loading up enough. Tonight I could have opened a barber's shop and satisfied four customers with the lather created.
Suffice to say the Cella worked out a little creamier tonight - I think it's getting nicer.
First time with the Treet - TPSS. I have to say my expectations were low, but the shave was nice and smooth. Probably not as sharp as the IP Reds but so much more forgiving. Entertained a little ATG in places and there was some noise but little pain and no regrets. I bought the TPSS just to round off my shopping cart, thinking they'd be interesting PIF fodder, but I'm so far ranking them up there with the IP Reds and above the Astra SPs and Derbys - all in the DE89.
Finished off with the Razorock Aftershave Wax (in original scent). Honestly guys, me and this stuff just get along. Love the scent. Between the Cella and this Wax my face is so much the softer for their visitation….maybe Marco's onto something with this Italian stuff after all

Funny, I never got on well with Treets.
Anyhow, 4th shave in on a GPP (that's a Gillette Platinum Plus to the uninitiated - a mid 80's vintage) in the Slim on 7. Spieck cream bowl lathered with the 730HD Smoggie.
Shave was beautifully smooth and good but nicked myself on a bump on my upper lip. No requirement for the Alum though, and the Stryptic definitely stayed in the cupboard.

Just the tip of the iceberg - only 4 blades under my belt. I may look back on this post and laugh…or wonder why the hell I went around the buoy with this stuff when the Treets would've done just fine.

6th shave down this morning on the GPP, still Speick & Smoggie 730HD.
Really was able to attack the growth this morning. Most of the sharpness is out of the blade but still quite smooth - no pulling or tugging experienced.

Just daubed on the Razorock AS Wax on a neat 2-pass.
On everyone's advice I bought a tube of Proraso Red. It lathered up well with the Duke 2. Worked out thinner than the Cella but showed nice glide, but less cushion. Seems a good match to my beard type, but I need to better understand its relationship with the Duke. Onto shave #4 with the Treet TPSS - not being cheap just wondering how far they could go (but I binned this one by shave's end). The blade performed well not so sharp but still smooth. Only the one tiny bleeder on the chin - my own dumb fault. Smooth and no sting. I'm a happy chappy!
Now to decide what blade to load up from the oldies @glenos PIFed me…choice, choices, choices….
