Post-shave: South Australian Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil

First shave with the Wolf today and it gave me a sleepless night. Could not decide what gear to use and had 3 brushes out today - settled on the horse and so glad I did - what a brilliant little brush for 15$...if you haven't tried it, you should!

The Wolf: OK a little more tease - I will post in the razor thread :) :) :)

Happy days - but seriously need to work on my photography skills!!!

My apologies to Ms Bonny. Was by no means intended as an insult.

She performed admirably. Probably not as slick as some of my other soaps (Shaver Heaven/Catie's Bubbles/Soap Commander), but she still offered enough protection for a very comfortable shave.

Scent is delicious. Not as spicy as TMBR. More limey, and bay-y. Definitely one I enjoy, and fresh enough to use on a warm day.

As the weather is turning somewhat chilly down here in Melbourne and the Proraso Green has run out, I've pulled out the Red Soap. It has taken a few tries to get the lather consistency back to what I remember - too much time using creams I guess.

With all the success I've had with the Slim and my Persona Reds I decided it was time to retry the feather blades. Last time in the Merker 34C it felt like I was taking a layer of skin off along with the stubble, but with the Slim adjusted down to level 3 I got a wonderful shave. May be technique but I'm pinning a lot of the success on the Slim.

The Natio has a nice citrus aroma and is every bit as good as the Nivea Sensitive Post-shave (with the bonus that you get 200ml instead of 100ml for the same price)

Razor: Merkur #45
Blade: Feather (1)
Post-shave: Myrsol Emulsion

Enjoying the RRSS so thought I'd compare with the similarly shaped #45 (plastic fantastic). As I thought loaded with a Feather they were as good as each other - though I find the #45 a little smoother.

You guys need to try Wickhams - consistently great!

Second only to Myrsol, which has not failed me whichever of their line-up I use to end proceedings.

Undoubtedly the best Bay Rum I have tried. Such an amazing lather and the scent is so complex. I love it!!!! A shame I only got a little sample pot...but let me know if you want to try a little mate.

Thanks for saving me the headache then mate....got to say though the Ogllala Bay Rum ASes are ever so nice - only Bay Rum that gives Captains Choice a run for its money.

Thiers Issard 69, 6/8 Extra Hollow, French Point​

A good razor, a fine representative of the interesting French tradition about straight razors. This is not the only Thiers Issard razor in my collection, however I like this one very much, also for its French point, a style I learned to enjoy over time, in my opinion, very effective. The finishing touch has been provided by the excellent Floid Blue, an aftershave said to be discontinued, something I keep on hearing quite a lot lately, and this time it seems to be true. What a pity. I hope Colomer will change its mind about the beloved Floid Blue and resume production.​

Cella works so good as a stick - withdrawn from trade opps.

The RRSS has proved very nice thank you. However rather than enticing me towards slants it makes me think more and more about mild razors with sharp blades. There is something liberating about zipping sharp metal around your face with little concern for blood and death. Makes me think more and more about the Feather AS-D2, also because their blades are just so damned good. Finally OBRLP is a very nice way to end a very nice shave.

Today's shave was kindly sponsored by @MrT. I caught up with the good man last night and swapped a few more goodies. I ended up with his Tabacco scented "Cavendish" from the notorious PAA, a Chubby and the Weber Classic handle.

The soap is a version 2.0 or 2.5 soft soap. The smell on the Cavendish is de-lish. Certainly pleasant to the nose. The PAA soap is very slick. Reasonably good with cushion. Nothing noticeable with the post-shave feel. All up another great artisan soap. (I personally won't buy any PAA soaps; the soap maker is very skilled at making excellent soaps, but his behaviour is inappropriate.)

The Chubby earns its reputation. Wow! I know why people talk about this brush. It's a monster of bristles that stakes it's claim on your face. It was an experience! I can't say I'd splash the cash on my own, but it's definitely one of a kind.

I am surprised about how much of a difference the longer handle made. It meant I could use it for leverage and seemed to produce a smoother result. Most happy with it after the first shave so I'll keep using it to see how it goes.
