Shave of the Day 2015

That was the worst wet season in 10 years as far as rain goes. Hope the dry isn't as bad as it will best the 147 days without rain we had a few years back if it is.

I can't remember Nick. There were two, one of which was supposed to be a high menthol soap, and the other the shaver heaven one you didn't like.

Pre-Shave: Occams pre-shave soap, cold water
Razor: The WOLF(man)
Blade: PolSilver SI (2)
Brush: Whipped Dog 24/48 Silvertip
Soap: Barrister & Mann Cheshire
Post-shave: Alum, South Australian Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Stirling Vetiver alcohol free Witch Hazel

Beautiful shave - the Wolf and PolSilver are indeed a match made in heaven and I could not believe it, but the Silvertip enhanced the B&M soap even more than the Plisson!

Will post a soap review shortly - but is my favourte B&M scent!

Brush: shavemac #177
Soap: B&M Latha
Razor: AS-D2
Blade: Gillette 1940's British Fat-Handled Tech
Post-shave: Antesol

I really, really, really like the scent of the @Barrister & Mann Latha. For a 'budget' soap I reckon it's pretty complex. I picked up less 'barbershop' and more...ummm...look I really don't know what defines 'barbershop', but the other barbershops I have used are normally pretty linear sweet wood (e.g., TOBS Shave Shop). With the Latha I get a little smokey but aniseed for some reason, the better half says leather is the main note piquing her nostrils. A bloody good lather too. I will add a proper review when I get a few more shaves under my belt, but without giving away the plot - so far, so bloody good.

Another review down the track will be a comparison between the Feather AS-D2 and the Gillette 1940's British Fat-Handled Tech - with (non-triangular) slot (does it have a more specific and eloquent name @Mark1966 ?). Actual razor used is pictured furtherest right.

Some folks (@khun_diddy ) seemed curious as to whether this specific Tech might be a poor man's Feather (and others - not on here - reckon Feather just ripped off this Gillette design). Again it needs a few more shaves to really make a clearer call but it is already very clear that they are not the same. Even the head geometry is different - and I don't just mean the concealed blade ends - but also the Tech presents more blade than the Feather does. So each stroke from each razor is very different. Yes the Tech is mild but it is a different kind of mild to the Feather. Must say though that I think the Tech might make a nice travel razor - it was convenient having used the Weber and Fatboy this week, the Tech is nicer to use - caveat: for one who like the Feather! - than the Weber.

Great comparison - just not clear at the end if you prefer the Weber or the Tech?

For me - at the moment and in light of my enjoyment of the Feather AS-D2 - the Tech is preferable to the Weber

Unbelievable.

I can't see much change on the outside - but there is obviously something going on!

It is so darn great isn't it?! Wonderful stuff.

BTW, the scent is based on 1950's Classic Barbershop...
He decided that Latha would come in only one fragrance ("Hey, in the 50s, products came in one scent and that was good enough for us!"), so we chose a classic barbershop fragrance with notes of lavender, vanilla, oakmoss, carnation, geranium, heliotrope, and musk for a smooth, clean scent such as one might encounter on 1950s Madison Avenue.

It's a bloody ripper! [emoji106] Steal for the price it is.

We need some local distributors of B&M. Why hasn't MensBiz or @Anthony picked up B&M soaps? I know Latha is only sold through Will (presumably due to margins) but there's the B&M Black labels and classic lineup.

The fact a small subset of P&C members like this product does not make it a commercially viable proposition. If you are so convinced @filobiblic why not import a few cases yourself and set up a little home business?

Yeah @filobiblic why don't you? Hmmmmm....this could be a great idea with Myrsol. Thanks for the advice GT.

Brush:Omega Boar
Soap: MDC forgue
Razor: Merkur 34C
Blade: Wilkson Sword (3)
Post-shave: Alum

Second last shave before I get my hands on my Barrister and Mann soap from the group buy. The cheap omega boar is a good brush but my other brushes are better ;) I will probably shave with it less often. The MDC for mine is not an overly strong scent but it is a very enjoyable one. The soap performs great. Looking at the jar it is going to last a very long time.

Razor: E1 Fatboy (5)
Blade: Spoiler (8?)
Brush: Vie-Long 13710 Horsey
Soap/Cream: @Barrister & Mann 'Rhapsody'
Aftershave: None

The lather was slick, my face is smooth, Merry Bloody Christmas!

Initial concerns over Rhapsody scent now gone after a couple of test latherings yesterday. Much improved scent balance after breaking the top of the soap.

eewwwww, sorry to hear you've hit on the most desperate of times mate.
@All, might we consider passing the hat around to buy @khun_diddy a reasonable soap...I mean even a shit one would be better than what he's had to resort to here. Poor fella!

Ignore the soap snobs @khun_diddy. They assume if a soap doesn't have at least 3 to 4 foreign sounding names and supposedly more separate scents than could be detected by a bloodhound then it can't be useable. Nothing wrong with ARKO!!!! - lathers well shaves even better cheap as chips.
