Mastro Livi CarboInox, 6/8 Full Hollow, Barber's Notch​

Top shave! Take a superb Mastro Livi CarboInox straight razor, then a Mastro Livi Silvertip Badger Brush and load it with a high class shaving soap like Martin De Candre. Lather your face with the most luxurious lather you can think of and let Mastro Livi CarboInox razor slide on your skin like a feather. Rinse well with cold water and then pass alum block: no burns, no stings. Take just five drops of argan oil and spread them all over your face, let it absorb and then a generous splash of Floïd Vigoroso aftershave: how can you possibly think about a better shave? By the way: also my pre-shave oil was part of the shave and it certainly contributed to the picture, although being a homemade product, it did a good job anyway.​

Went (for me) old school today and revisited some stuff I haven't used in ages.
Brush:FS finest (OK I use this regularly but it was my first brush)
Soap: martin de candre sample I got yonks ago off Bonzo(?) YKW
Razor: Edwin Jagger De 89 (my first DE razor)
Blade: Astra green (2nd blade used after Derby's which are a never again blade for me)
AS: Speick.

To tell the truth I'm not entirely certain the correct provenance was attributed to either the soap or the person I got it from, but I think I'm right (it was 4 years ago).

Was surprisingly a great shave. I only had the tiniest piece of the soap (1/4 pea) left and thought it might struggle to create enough lather to shave with, but I still had enough for another pass after I had finished 3!
The astra was a delight after the Rapira lux plat I used the last two shaves, and while the de89 was noticeably less aggressive than other razor I've since used the end result was perfectly acceptable. Barely any sting from the AS.

Couldn't find the completed items thread on my phone, but as it had been in my collection 4 years, I am claiming this soap as done!

The Classic is great little brush. Very different to the Duke 2, much denser knot and a nice low loft make it perfect for face lathering. The Duke on the other hand is more of an all rounder for me, great in the bowl or on the face but not perfect for either.

Hour later and skin is smooth, elastic and minimal irritation.
Bay Laurel is a milder bay and doesn't last as long as Ogallala, yet something I'd consider purchasing again.

New in today's shave are the brush and aftershave.
The Speick is great certainly in my top 5 . Lovely scent, didn't even bother with moisturiser.
Never used a synthetic before, its far softer than I expected. Actually I don't really feel the need for a badger now! Wonder how long that will last...

Loved the soap so much that I bought the balm. Doesn't smell anything like the soap, which is a bummer, but it held up nicely with the added slickness. The fragrance is quite subtle but I guess its not to overpower the scent of the soap.

Came back to the Pannacrema after a bit of a sabbatical. Loaded it like hell and was rewarded with a wonderful lather.

The Mongoose has been giving me some grief so I switched over to a preferred shorter handle and it has made a huge difference. Enjoyable and confident with using it now. Just like a normal SE razor but with the fat head.

Nice way to start a Monday :)
 
Thanks Rick, Ever Ready. I don't think GEM made a 1924 but by then it probably was all owned by the one company. Ever Ready continued on for many years. GEM as such was a company that had a collection of brands in the market place. The Ever Ready Streamline was one of the last made under that name in the 40's or 50's. Although my razor is called a 1924 apparently they were in production from about 1919. I "think" 1924 refers to the year the patent was issued. Could be wrong. It is a bit of an honour to shave with such a classic piece of kit.
