Shave of the Day - 2025

PXL-20250124-233613490-PORTRAIT.jpg]

Pre-shave: Hot flannel, Valobra Glicerlanolina
Brush: TroyCraft "Vazon Forest" 28mm AP G5C
Soap: Yardley
Razor: Wolfman WR4
Blade: Schick Proline
Post-shave: TND witch hazel, homebrew moisturiser, La Roche-Posay Anthelios SPF 50+ Invisible Fluid, Oxford & Cambridge cologne

Great to see your opinion on the shave and the various ingredients @Vittoria A photo and a list of all the fancy stuff means very little to me if I don’t end up knowing how it all came together. Well done
Hi Errol
I try to describe the experience of the shave and the products the best I can unfortunately I only have some knowledge of Gillette’s no knowledge of modern razors and little to no knowledge on soap.
Cheers mate.

Pre-shave; Warm shower, face rinse with MWF bar soap.
Brush; TroyCraft, “Red Desert” Supplejack timber, Brass plate/s, Red Earth Candy resin with fine Gold glitter handle and a 28mm (x TF), Pure Boar knot (Brush No 1a)
Soap; Eufros, Lima- Especias
Razor; Gillette, Toggle 1958 D1. (Setting 7)
Blade; Gillette, Red & White (Aussie Spoiler)
Post-shave; Eufros, Lima- Especias balm.
Shave; The Eufros Lima Especias is like being ‘splashed’ in the face with freshly squeezed Lime juice followed by an Arctic blast as the Menthol kicks in. The shave with the Toggle, as the Guru (Errol) has said ‘’ modern adjustable razors are not even competing in the same league; the Toggle is so far advanced.’’ I’m having a tough choice between this and the Athena for my Grail razor. I’m wanting to try a couple more (WR4 unfortunately $’s dependent! An Alpha Spirit in Bronze is on order), Eufros balm, wow a pea size squirt and face still feels soft n smooth hours later, it’s a keeper.

Pre-shave: Hot flannel, Valobra Glicerlanolina
Brush: TroyCraft "Vazon Forest" 28mm AP G5C
Soap: Czech & Speake (Valobra) Oxford & Cambridge
Razor: Blackland Vector
Blade: Schick Proline
Post-shave: TND witch hazel, homebrew moisturiser, La Roche-Posay Anthelios SPF 50+ Invisible Fluid, Oxford & Cambridge cologne

It has been many months since I last picked up the Vector, it has been left in the shade by my WR4, and I have been vaguely toying with the idea of letting it go. After this shave, though, I think I shall keep it, at least for now. :smug:

Lovely looking razor @LesC good to hear your thoughts on it. Thought you might be interested in this in-depth review and history of the adjustable Gillette razor from razor Emporium you may or may not have read it.
cheers mate.

Rigarazor 8/8 Quarter Hollow - Semogue OC Boar - Eufros Aura de lavanda - Speick Splash - Sukin Moisturiser

First shave with Aura de lavanda and Manuel has done another fantastic job. As @Gargravarr said, it is a lavender forward fougère, and a delightful one. If possible, it seems even creamier than his normal base. Superb shave! :)
