First shave with the newly released
Woolly Wash Soapery Tropi-Cool artisan shaving a soap.
A new Australian soap that was generously provided by
@Mark1966.
Woolly Wash Soapery has been around for a little bit now, but has recently expanded into the shaving soap market and is available on their
Etsy store or
Ebay store. Currently there are 5 options, Night at the Pub, Tranquility, Shear, Tropi-Cool & Outback. Llana recently mentioned on
reddit that she has a few more scents on the way.
Artwork -
I love the effort that goes into shaving soap art, for Woolly Wash Soapery all of the tins have a sheep doing something somewhat related to the scent. Llana actually owns a sheep and cattle farm in QLD and uses the tallow from the farm so she has a special connection to her soaps.
Scent -
I dont mind a good tropical scented soap, i really enjoy Stirling Coconut & Lime and a few of Areffa's tropical scented soaps are pretty nice aswell. I must say that Tropi-Cool beats them all, there isnt a single bit of artificial scent in there, it all smells compeltely natural as i feel some of the others can be overpowering & almost smell like toilet cleaner. The scent is strong off the puck and stays with you throughout the shave.
Lather / Performance-
The soap is softer than i had originally expected, its probably a little harder than TOBS but much softer than other firmer soaps (B&M, Stirling etc).
I started with a damp troycraft plissoft brush and loaded gently for around 10-15 seconds. I then moved to my bowl to start building a creamy lather slowly adding water as needed. I was able to have a pretty dense lather in under a minute and when i realised the amount that was produced, i decided to take on
@Mark1966 &
@SpeedyPC challenge
Moving on, i was able to whip up quite a dense lather and it was very flexible with the amount of water that i added, even when i pushed it a bit more it still held up quite well.
On the face it felt very nice, dense and creamy with excellent protection.
Post shave feel was top notch, something that i would expect from my current top soaps such as MWF, B&M & SV.
Overall-
Overall, this is a great soap and i would be very happy using this daily, top notch lather, scent & protection.
They currently are available in 3 sizes, 20g sample for $5, 80g tin for $12 or 180g jar for $25.
I can defintely get behind this new Australian soap maker and i encourage everyone here to jump on board and support this talented soap maker.
Well done Llana, i wish you all the success and i hope you stay around for a long time!
Next up i have Outback and will review this over the next week or two
