Shave of the Day - 2025

Yeah, right. Until I get stopped by the plods: "Sir, just blow into this if you wouldn't mind..."

A few years ago, I heard a salesman at Dan Murphy's explaining to a lady customer that he uses Port Charlotte single malt whisky as his aftershave. She caught my eye looking over his shoulder as if to say "¿Que?" :ROFLMAO:

However, I can probably agree that absinthe may be better administered externally than ingested. But my opinion may be coloured by a teenage experience of ¾ of a bottle of Pastis at an evening beach party.
Bless Dan Murphy, he has been a life long mate to a lot of us. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

  • Razor : Fatip Lo Storto Open Comb Slant Brass with Gold Chrome Plate (Italy).
  • Blade : 7 O'clock Black Super Platinum (2).
  • Brush : Fine Accoutrements Stout Angel Hair Synthetic .
  • Soap : Savon Nu Cajun Blade Soap Unscented Beef Tallow Base.
  • Aftershave : Genuine Ogallala Bay Rum splash.
  • Weight : 69 grams.
Hi all,
Good shave today (I guess) with a Fatip open comb slant.
Firstly its a fancy looking razor with a nice barber pole handle and surprisingly good grip for such a
shiny handle.
Its quite an efficient close shaving DE but with one annoying floor which many are aware is the blade alignment issue.
I was told of this before getting it small lot of razors I pick up recently.
The problem seems to lie with the tolerances of the blade locator pins in the top cap and base plate hole are no way near tight enough.
I spent to long aligning the blade for equal exposure and angle on both sides (very frustrating for such a pretty razor with so much promise).
When I can load a suitable blade into any of my three piece DE razors and enjoy the shave I and I'm sure most wet shavers would say "why bother".
"Attention" Fatip safety razors you really need to tighten up the top cap and base on your slant razor and it would be a great Slant instead of a
"Why should I bother Slant razor" in my opinion to much messing about when you just want a nice relaxing Shave.

What a shame.

One pass WTG One pass ATG No nicks (luckily) done.

The little Chubby great but not as good as badger as it claims.

The Cajun Blade soap beef tallow based (3.5oz) worked well giving me good cushioning and aftershave feel.

Very nicely finished off with Ogallala Bay Rum Splash.
Cheers.

Great review. I’ve never owned a Fatip razor, now I know why. Thinking of getting one with another razor purchase to cut postage costs.

Blade alignment has always been a problem with Fatip razors. As nice looking as they are, they require too much fiddling to get the blade seated properly.
