Shave of the Day - 2026

Pre-shave; Warm shower, face rinse with MWF bar soap.
Brush; Culmak No 84 Best Badger 1’’ knot, Butterscotch handle.
Soap; Yardley, Vintage Green label.
Razor; Atelier Durdan, La Faulx ‘’The Scythe’’ AC razor with ++ plate, machine finish.
Blade; Kai, Captain Titan Mild PINK.
Post-shave; Saponificio Varesino, Tundra Artica milk/balm.
Cologne/EDP;
Moisturiser;
Attar (Perfume Oil);
Shave;
The good old vintage Yardley soap with the vintage Culmak brush, a nice pairing. The shave as usual with the La Faulx smooth, close and efficient, finished with the SV Tundra Artica, which for some reason goes really nice with the Yardley?
Lovely shave no issues.
Is the Tundra Artica mentholated?

Pre-shave: Hot flannel, Pears soap
Brush: TroyCraft "Opalesque" 28mm AP G5C
Soap: Eufros Lima Especial
Razor: Atelier Durdan La Faulx
Blade: Schick Proline
Post-shave: Stirling Bergamot Lavender/TND witch hazel (30:70), homebrew moisturiser, Oxford & Cambridge cologne

This Eufros sample, along with several others, was generously sent to me by @LesC - thanks (y)(y)

There was never any doubt in my mind that this would be a superb soap, from my experience of Manuel's products. It's slick as a greased pig, and the scent is lovely. This one is on a tallow base, but I don't believe it's necessarily any better than his veg base. For what it's worth, I suspect the scent would come through better with the veg formula.

No, I got it from Connaught Shaving. Quick service from the UK, and postage not too expensive.

It's best to buy from the official website because they don't have old stock. That base had problems and stopped foaming after a while. I recommend leaving it open for quite a while before closing it. I threw several in the trash. It was reformulated two years ago; the most recent one is the new Santal.

Thanks, I hadn't heard anything about that. I've only used this soap about 3 times, and so far it's worked as well as, say, MdC. But I'll bear that in mind. The tub I have is labelled 2025-274 which I would guess translates to 1st October last year. That might be recent enough to be OK... :unsure:

As a matter of interest, since I recall you also have the V1, how do the two compare? I haven't been prepared to make the leap since I'm still happy with the V1 L2 (and, TBH, not so keen on the new handle design), but I'm open to suggestions...

Actually I kind of like the look of the new handel. That said, I'm afraid there is a reason that Blackland pulled both the V1 and V2 from their offerings, leaving the Vector as their only SE.
I was actually content with the V!, and disappointed that the V2 offered no better a shaving experience. My advice is stick with the V1. :)
