Pre-Shave: Occams pre-shave soap, cold water
Razor: IKON DLC Slant with long Bulldog handle
Blade: Ladas (2)
Brush: Paladin TSN LE
Lather: Mystic Waters Lime
Post-shave: Alum, Barrister & Man Kyovu Original, South Australian Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil​

Another super close shave with the DLC slant - but the razor is on the aggressive side. Still managed a blood and irritation free shave, so pretty pleased with my self. The razor is also demanding on blades - the Ladas was completely dead after the last (8th in total) pass.

A picture of the absolutely incredible lather is in the lather section - to quote @Young Buck : every time I use this soap...you get the point :D

Strictly ticking the tourist boxes with teenage children on first trip to Europe in tow unfortunately.

The first half of today what this spent -

  • walking in rain to queue at the entrance to the Duomo cupola;
  • standing in the rain in the queue for 20 mins;
  • getting to the entrance to be informed by the sign and staff that you cannot but tickets there - you have to go to the ticket office;
  • walking in the rain to the ticket office ignoring death stares and comments from teenage children;
  • standing in another line to buy tickets (fortunately inside);
  • having credit card payment rejected three times because the line was dropping out (everybody must be checking out at the hotel);
  • scrambling to scrounge up the cash for the four adult tickets because I'd sent wife and kids back to line to enter while I purchased tickets (could you imagine if I'd returned empty handed!);
  • rejoining queue in the rain for another 35 minutes;
  • finally getting inside and starting to climb to the top of the cupola;
  • having to stop for 12 minutes part way up (no idea why!) much to the 'delight' of teenage children;
  • reaching top of wet, slippery marble outside viewing area with a barrier WAY too low for the comfort of somebody afraid of heights in the dry let alone the rain;
  • watching daughter slip and momentarily loose balance on viewing area near the edge (there was a STEP down - who puts a step near an edge!);
  • pushing heart back into chest after it leapt into my throw on seeing daughter slip;
  • controlling adrenaline surge coursing around my body following said slip;
  • taking obligatory photos in rain;
  • descending the 400+ stairs;
  • deciding that the even longer queue to enter the cathedral itself was not worth it at this point;
  • returning to our apartment.

Being a tourist is not all beer and skittles!

An all round great shave. The Semogue soap has well and truly lost its scent though, a bit disappointing for a $30.00 soap that doesn't even come with a usable container. Very much doubt I'll replace it when this one is done. A shame as the lather itself is flawless.

After: Alum, Jade East A/S (Thanks @Draco Noir)

Brilliant shave this morning. The Antiga Barbearia shave soap provided a nice lather, with a good after shave face feel.
The Voskhod felt like it was pulling this morning, maybe not quite sharp enough to deal with more than 1 1/2 days worth of growth.
The Jade East A/S lets you know where you made mistakes, and leaves a subtle fragrance behind which is quite pleasant.
Ended up with a 4 pass this morning, got so close to BBS with 3 passes I got game and went ATG for the 4th.
Achieved BBS in the finest fashion. The alum block let me know I had gone ATG on the neck, but not outrageously.
Overall, I feel like I had a terrific shave this morning with very little irritation. My technique continues to improve,
which only makes me more excited to continue on this journey!

First try of the Fine soap today. Very nice thick slick lather with that AB scent. This passaround razor is quite mild though.

Noticed my sv smelled a little funky today. Will let it dry properly before closing the cap on this time. Also rinsed it after loading my chubby on it.

No exceptions, sv performed as well as always. Chubby ate a lot of soap today, and produce an immense barrier of protection for my shave today. Never had a successful third use on the feather until today.

Shave was beautiful today. However, it is worrying that my chubby shed about 6 bristles during the load, maybe another 6 during face lathering and another 6-10ish while I was cleaning the brush out.

Used Con's advice to give it a good wash with mild dish wash solution (few more bristles came loose), and 50/50 vinegar solution soak. No bristles came off during the vinegar soak. Fingers crossed it will stop. Otherwise, [emoji24], as I really loved this brush.

Nice close 2 pass shave with a little bit of tidy up. I've been getting a bad case of lather envy so I spent a bit more time concentrating on that, the above pic shows what was left after I was done. Hopefully with a bit more practise I'll get my lather envy under control.​

Three pass shave. First use of the Simpsons brush and it is wonderful. Sucked up the soap into its dense innards but let it go when I face lathered. So soft are the tips its a wonder, very happy with the purchase. BBS shave and a great deal of satisfaction.

It's in Tech territory. Maybe a bit milder? Early days really but I may try a shim in it.

The Omega 11126 is a new addition to the family. I am a sucker for gorgeous handles and this Omega is no exception (Omega brushes with quality handles actually do exist). Considering this was only the third time I had used this brush, she performed admirably - I managed to squeeze in 3 passes. There's lots of backbone and she does splay with a little effort, however I expect her to splay a little more effortlessly as she begins to break-in. Overall, today's shave wasn't the closest, but it was very comfortable with no irritation.
