Happy birthday @tim33z - A quick shower face/head shave and another failed attempt! :banghead: The razor & blade combo worked great on my face but not so on the noggin as I ended up with a few nicks on the crown and irritation on the back. I will try a milder razor again and focus on getting a comfortable shave without aiming for a BBS. Seems easy enough but using a DE is proving a challenge as I'm struggling to find the right angle as to achieve a close shave in a single pass. Back to the drawing board... :writer:

That Duke is stunning, I would not even consider 'boring and whoring' it. I would send it to Simpsons though and request a reknot with their SiLVERTiP hair the next time some becomes available even if it took a 2 year wait. Quite easily the best grade of badger I have ever used, it blows absolutely everything out of the water. It has strong backbone but is the softest brush I own, zero scritch and the flow-through is unparalleled- it's the hair of the gods and I see why it's so many peoples unicorn brush, just flawlessly good. Their Manchurian hair is nice, their Silvertip is the best.

If you ever consider selling that Duke, I would go to $400-$500 for it in it's current state.

Well, it was certainly worth the wait. This razor is an absolute beauty and shaved a treat, super sharp from the get go. The blade is slightly smaller in length than my other straights, but this did not reduce efficiency whatsoever. It actually made it easier to manoeuvre around my face. Couldn't be happier. I felt that it also needed a stellar soap, so I had to bust out the Skye Fall (my daughter's favourite). My wife also commented on scales and was suitably impressed.

I'm a head shaver, have been for many years. When I started with the DE I was terrified of doing my head and the results matched. Loads of stubble left behind, irritation and cuts galore. Its a lot better now...and whilst I'm not professing this to be the holy grail of head shaving, it works for me. First issue was angle. Because the razor was upside down on the back of my head it was difficult to get it right. I just played about moving the handle further out from my head whilst holding the head of the razor against my skin. I eventually found a sweet spot that seemed to give a really good result. Second step was 'feel'....I now shave my head two handed. One operating the razor, and my other just feeling behind/in front of the blade after each stroke to feel for stubble etc. This helps to me get DFS/BBS with one pass (ATG) and a little bit of tidying up. It's not fool proof (even to a sufficiently talented fool such as I) and I still sometimes find a bit that I've missed, but its the method that gets me the best results.

I've had a couple re-knotted by them, I might get some more done some day.

Very nice mentholated shave probably the best lather I've produced yet, thanks @alfredus and @todras for there advice on lather.
