Just a change of blade today, yesterday's Feather was getting a little tired after only 4 days. None of the AC blades drop off a cliff the way DE blades do, so there's always the choice between pressing on with a blade that's just a little subpar or binning it. The latter for me, I have much less time in front of me than behind. I will, however, keep going with this soap until it's gone. (y)(y)

All a man needs.
  • 1870's George Butler 6/8 "Shakespeare" with genuine ivory scales. I made the velvet pouch for this straight razor.
  • Tabac stick (original).
  • Chinese genuine guaranteed pure best badger hair synthetic brush set in an exotic timber handle (well that's what the advertising said)
Another perfect close and comfortable shave without any skin damage or irritation.

Good choice of products. I wish I had known about Renaissance Wax when I was shaving with the kamisori I forged all those years ago. I never liked working with stainless, so even the best tool steels need protection. At the time, I just used Vaseline, which was far from ideal on a 243-layer pattern weld.

Edit: oops arithmetic error, 384 layers :oops:

These three from Zingariman's initial soap run, The Nomad, The Magician and The Gatherer are my favourites. Not as enamoured with The Rambler and I haven't tried the other newer ones yet. Only the Nomad survived the product cull from early this year. RIP The Magician and The Gatherer. This tub seems to dwindle in volume every time I use it. I may have other soaps, but I'll be sad when these are done. Hopefully Heather will bring them back in the future.

So yeah. RR Lupo 72 vs the might Rocca. So yeah... Maybe I need to try it again with better blades. Make it a more even playing field.

I miss Shaver Heaven too, the sheer amount of variety in the scents was pretty great but ultimately that may have been a contributing factor in why he left. (I'm not sure) but I vaguely remember him saying he may return some day but that could have been wishful thinking on my behalf and since it has been many years that he left I can only wish him and his family the best.

I'd imagine that he'd have kept up and improved his base too.

I like rapira blades but never tried them in the rocca. Find these blades very smooth but not sharp.. minoras and nacets are good in the rocca but reckon my fav is the polsilver/wizamet in this razor

Fathers Day Card watercolour by Mrs Pbgoose. The razor was last years Fathers Day present and I love it but the artwork trumps it for me. Very happy camper.
Decided it was way past time the soap lab fired a shot. Made a batch of hand soap yesterday (Mediterranean Lavender). Will post a shot in a months time when it’s cured.
Meanwhile back on the farm, finally got the underground power sorted to the new switchboard. The overhead power to the house is still holding up the frames/trusses installation. Had to reroute the solar mains to the new switchboard while we were at it.
