Odd thing to say but this is a fav brush/soap combo. The Huon pine scent complements the tea scent perfectly.

It's a scent I enjoy for sure, different from the typical soap scents. Imagine a strong black tea backgrounded by vanilla on the precipice of sweetness without being cloying.

A tribute shave to the great man.
The Sir Winston soap is an excellent performer - the lather reminds me a lot of the Barrister & Mann Reserve base. The scent is a tribute to Blenheim Bouquet.
I find it more lavender-forward, whilst in the original, citrus tends to be the dominant note. However, Gentleman's Nod have done a good job - it is a very refreshing Barbershop scent with a distinct English backbone.

Don't drink it. SA water tastes like crap

I grew up on a farm drinking rainwater, so I'm very fussy, and I'd have to say that it's improved heaps since I first moved to Adelaide 30-odd years ago. It's still not great, but it's not completely terrible anymore.

It's often said that if you look at the contents of a bottle of Cooper's, the sludge in the bottom is the Adelaide water. I still like it. Go figure...

If that's the case there's some kind of magic going on that turns that sludge into very tasty sludge...

Very nice shave. Geo. F. Trumper creams are always great performers. A really nice Sandalwood scent in both cream and cologne.
I was thinking that it may be a little too similar to their Spanish Leather scent, but it is quite distinct.
A very fresh opening with citrus and herbs, bringing the thought of a fougère to mind. But always some creamy sandalwood in the background. It evolves slowly over time, and avoids being overly sweet.
Some florals emerge, and the final dry down is beautiful, reminding me of Chanel Egoiste, with creamy sandalwood to the fore.

Thanks for the review Tom, will add G.F.T Sandalwood to the wish list. I like sandalwood but can sometimes be too earthy, your description sounds divine.

Last Few Shaves

Slowly working my way through the Washpool soap and finding it takes a bit more water to get a creamy lather but nothing a good badger brush can't handle!

Paired a Wizamet SI with the 34C and Alpha Outlaw Aggressive plate and decided to swap out the blade after the 5th shave with DFS results for the most part.

Mixing things up, I managed to find a spare tuck of Gillette Rubie blades which are my go too for more assertive razors but when paired with the Smart Helix Apollo + Stando Svarga handle I didn't get a great shave with uneven regrowth using the Milder side of the plate and harshness when using the Aggressive side. Surprising results so might try the R41 next shave to see if it might be a dud blade...?

Finished off with some home made aftershave and B&M scent... Happy Shaves!

Cold and rainy day here, so I figured it was a good time to really get into Mélange by B&M. I think it's the third time or so I've used it and very happy with it. I look forward to using it a lot this winter.
