Troy Tools Custom Brush Handles

Back in the workshop again after a couple months off with family commitments. Now I'm madly trying to catch up on work that piled up while I was busy, also doing a few things for myself too of course.
Here is a Buffalo horn hybrid with Gold resin I used to backfill the interior cavity of the horn. 26mm

Great work. I always wondered how a combination of buffalo horn and resin would work. Looks positive now. I do have a few flat sections for you to experiment with if you would like them.

Stunning

Hi All, I'm having a half price Merry Christmas sale of my existing pre-made brushes and handles.

I'm letting all these in the pictures go at half price, I've had them all long enough and it doesn't make sense to keep making more when these are all taking up space in the boxes I need for more new brushes.
This half price sale will end Midnight on Christmas Eve 2025.

Bare handles are $50 each plus Express Post $15. (most of these don't have a maker's medal installed yet so choice is open on Brass or Aluminium medal). For another $10 I will fit a suitable knot from my stock of synthetic or boar knots if you wish me to complete the brush for you.

Note: I am running low on makers medals so get in quick if that's what you're after. More have been ordered, but it takes a while to get them.

Completed synthetic or boar brushes are $60 each plus Express Post $15.
I won't be modifying any of the completed brushes at this price, they come as they are.

I can't modify pictures on this forum but I can delete brushes from the pics on my facebook page as brushes sell and become unavailable.
https://www.facebook.com/TroyCraftCustomShavingBrushes/

PM me for a bargain.
Quote the picture number (top left corner of each pic, which row, green one 3rd from the left, etc...)

If you want to send me a knot to fit in a handle for you, that's good too. Half price purchase of the handle will still apply.

Enjoy the eyecandy otherwise :)

And now for something outside my normal wheelhouse, but not outside my skillset and tools (apparently:))

Buffalo horn and 316 stainless steel fittings, custom made to specs provided by @Errol for one/some of his magnificant razors. Started by turning up a few mandrels to the required diameters to hold all the small parts on the lathes, and then got to it.
Two tops were provided to accomodate modern 5mm threads, and #10-32tpi UNF for vintage threaded heads. A fun little project made to the tightest tolerances I could manage and still provide ease of assembly / dissasembly fitment. I also had a big piece of buffalo horn just begging to be cut up and made into something unique, so a brush holder it is. Thank you again for the box of horns Errol, looking forward to the next one (I still have the unused 316;))

keen on having a look at these Troy. and those razor handles are gorgeous. You have to make. few more in wood or resin with metal at both ends. Very cool mate.

This Bush is superb as well. Very unique - The Black Caramel.:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

So it's been a little while, but here we go again.
Much time and effort went into this one, given the extra attention to detail.
A Stabilised Mallee Burl piece with an integral resin knot liner to provide strength to the knot socket against the outwards pressure of a wet natural fibre knot. The top of the burl block was drilled oversized and filled with coloured resin, let cure (for months as it happens), and then drilled smaller for the knot. This left a couple of mm of coloured resin inside the knot socket. A barely detectable fully sealed inner knot socket prevents water damage to the wood, but also adds strength to the narrow walled wooden knot socket. Finished with many coats of CA and polished to a very high level. Brass medal in base. 24mm Oumo SHD "Special" Lotus Tip knot pictured, but not glued in yet. Customer choice of 24mm knot still available.
