I'm looking at spending a week at a resort on one of the pacific islands as part of a conference, I was wondering (for those regular flyers) does anyone have a good flight/accommodation website ?

The conference is in Vanuatu, I seem to remember @Monsta_AU or maybe @Mark1966 posting a website that aggregates the cheapest flights/packages. I did a search but could not find it though.

Any tips or ideas welcome, websites especially so :)

Timing is impeccable. This time 12 months ago I was in Vila. Give me an overcast 23 degree day over today's weather!

We have a company supplier who we need to book through for work. Sometimes it is better for me to book through that for personal trips as you get corporate room rates and included WiFi usually.

If you wanted a package, then various sites seem to sell packages for certain resorts only. You need to look around a bit. Happy to refer our booking agent on the last trip who has one of the wider ranges. That said, the cheapest way to go is to get a package with Vanuatu. If you try to put something together yourself you will not get as much for your money.

In terms of sites, kayak is one of the best for flights. AuntBetty/Iwantthatflight not bad either.

ExYSSY:
Qantas is direct (on Air Vanuatu metal, which is QF wet leased!). Book QF flight number, get points.
Virgin via YBBN only, various wait times but can be relatively cheap. Flights back can be 16 hours in YBBN, not my idea of fun. If you are Velocity Gold then you can get fly-ahead I guess.
Air Vanuatu - direct flight. Can be cheapest, can be most expensive. Try to fly weekdays. Package deals are always on VU flights but no QF points.

Sorry mate, I'm no help. Book through QF site as they look after me

For flights I suggest skyscanner.com.au or Google Flights. For accommodation, I suggest Trip Advisor rankings and the Vanuatu forum. Many of the resorts in Vanuatu are small, family run businesses that will not necessarily be on all of the accom websites. Of course there are the major hotel names, some badly in need of updating.

Alcohol is very expensive. However you can buy top quality kava while in Vanuatu. I am not talking about the rubbish palmed off on tourists. I mean the stuff that makes you glad to be alive. Vanuatu is very safe, no snakes, crocodiles, killer jellyfish etc. The only thing to watch out for is centipedes - they can give a painful sting.

This...the first two will let you find the best flights, that work for you and then you buy directly from the airline...at least they pretend you have some rights as a customer.
Same with accommodation: find what you want on tripadvisor with the best price, then contact the property directly and ask them for the same price you'd get through booking.com etc. - you can choose the room you want that way.
