Unique design in regards to the dial method and bottom plates. The head from a glance reminds me of the Aluminum Razorock Lupo and Lupo DLC.

I want that razor. Based on the unique design and mechanism alone. Anyone here planning on getting this one?
I suspect its going to sell out quick and be hard to buy going forward.

I wouldn't be surprised if this thing ends up costing upwards of $450AUD

The pre-order thingy seems to be closed, but I think it was in the $500 region. So Wolfperson category, but you get a much more beautiful razor for your money. (Flame on. :p) But I'm fairly sure any resemblance to a Lupo is entirely superficial. The bottom plate mechanism looks very cool. :cool:

Wowzers! Don't get me wrong, I like the wolfman (never owned one) and love seeing them around here especially that handle but I have to agree that this razor brings a bit more to the table. I mean... I would have liked to have seen a polished chrome version and maybe something like a little magnifying lens on the hole for the numbers but also feel like there was a missed opportunity to have an open dial in that one could adjust it more finely as this is a smooth motion dial and not like a clicking type like the fatboy so it would make sense to have a more open dial to fine tune. There is literally nothing to help you dial an in between setting.

Too bad being cool costs a lot of money. Back in my day being cool only cost a nickel. hahaha
On a side note I still can't believe how little (i know inflation and such) a brand new Fatboy or slim would cost back in the day.

This is a beautiful and well designed razor. I was on the pre order list but have since decided not to purchase.

For myself this razor is not efficient enough for razors I already own.
If I interpret the tables below, the maximum efficiency is around the Karve CB - D level. For myself to be able to purchase I would like the maximum efficiency around Karve F level.


Setting 1 Blade Gap 0.6 Blade Exposure -0.17
Setting 2 Blade Gap 0.7 Blade Exposure -0.07
Setting 3 Blade Gap 0.75 Blade Exposure 0
Setting 4 Blade Gap 0.8 Blade Exposure 0.07
Setting 5 Blade Gap 0.9 Blade Exposure 0.17

Let's Compare to the Karve CB

AA – gap = 0.47mm / exposure = negative 0.07mm
A – gap = 0.60mm / exposure = negative 0.02mm
B – gap = 0.73mm / exposure = zero
C – gap = 0.85mm / exposure = positive 0.09mm
D – gap = 0.98mm / exposure = positive 0.13mm
E – gap = 1.10mm / exposure = positive 0.17mm
F – gap = 1.23mm / exposure = positive 0.22mm
G – gap = 1.36mm / exposure = positive 0.25mm


FYI, I pre ordered a Vector Ti based on your high regards for this razor, and the fantastic quality of Blackland's razors.
 
Terrific engineering and beautiful, but (cost aside) I agree with @rhodes96 re efficiency so settled for a second hand Nodachi which is heading my way. There have been a couple of these Muramasa listed for sale on US forums already so I suspect that is the reason why some people are moving them on. Too pricey for me anyway!

@Errol the blade gap and exposure combination has me extremely concerned as not efficient enough on the maximum setting.

Very Interesting and an astute observation regarding the blade exposures. I can probably handle it being a mild razor but surely if you are going to offer an adjustable razor you'd want that scope of aggression to be a lot wider to cater to a larger audience. Perhaps if they had adjusted the design of the dial as I had mentioned then perhaps they'd have had a little head room to offer a more aggressive razor and on the higher levels.
I haven't looked into the design more deeply but I suspect they could simply offer different base plates as they are split and removable which would help with this issue. From what I have seen online as it stands it is a mild razor though.
I am sure Errol will give it a good run through and offer a solid opinion either way.
