Shave of the day

Yeah sure but if the NEW behaves with Tabac, it's Cells not so magnifico.

No, no, no, no, no

It was the magical properties of the Cella that inspired you to use the NEW properly - with any soap now.

......I always seem to nick myself on Proraso.......

It appears to me you're hinting at a systematic failing of an Italian shaving cream. Just wait for the desperate, tearful replies. Then denial. Then replies written in Italian to intimate some sort of cultural sophistication associated with the use of Italian traditional wet shaving gear. Plenty of it too. Just look at the top of the Red Tub. An entire essay: CELLA Crema Da Barba All'Olio Di Blah, blah, blah. Stick of Speick : Shave Soap. If this fails it'll be threats of violence. Don't worry they invariably scamper faster than half a dozen WWII Italian Africa corps divisions confronted by some daft British commander with a jaunty hat.

LOL! [plus obligatory padding]

Cella Challenge Chapter 3

Sorry dudes. Tried the NEW with Tabac and it worked perfectly. No gripping or shuddering, just killed it. Tabac feels like butter compared to the skimmed milk that is Cella. Will try it with Speick tomorrow but I can almost predict the outcome right now.

... but I can almost predict the outcome right now.

It is rigged - he clearly has a predetermined outcome in mind!

Time for a call to my cousin I think....

First non TM shave for awhile
Same brush
Same Cella
Two passes and some touch ups with the Clog Pruf.
Not too bad at all but not as much fun.
Will try the same thing with the Slim and feather next time.

I've not shaved in a couple days and Minorci was kind enough to lend me the Semogue LE brushes for a go, along with the R31 (or is it 34?) and some NOS Bleues.

Also in the bag was Kyoku sake infused cream.

Well I have used none of those products before and I cut the bottom of my neck.

I did end up witha BBS shave though.

The R31 razor is very precise and required diligence whe using it as it feels bitey.

The Kyoku cream...well I will never use it again. It was far too sticky and dry and it doesn't lather, it's designed as a non lather cream and I did not like it one bit. Even the smell was dreadful.

The brush was the badger LE semogue, and was a good enough brush - lovely handle.

I will try again tomorrow witha decent cream and pop another result up.

It's been sticky humid by the time I got to shave the last few days, so I've gone back to proraso, and had two really good shaves.

I will try the hard sandalwood soap I bought from Nanny's at some stage, just need to find something to put the puck in. As I have a full tub of TOBS sandalwood, I have also considered the idea of selling the hard soap on unused.

And I will try the other soft soaps, and the hard soap samplers - but the menthol one is just too easy to work with compared to my efforts with others thus far.

Oh, and I like the Super Iridium. Let me guess, they are now discontinued and cost a fortune?

Eggbert, I bought a few wooden bowls from ebay for $5 each with lids. They look better than the ones that tobs soaps come in. Grab a few for putting pucks in.

1st Law of shaving - discontinued is always better.
Typical!
Now, have I introduced you to the wonderful P.160 soap?
You tried when you had your Cella/ P.160 sale, but I dislike marzipan/almond smells more than i dislike the taste of Vegemite.

Cheers Jug, will take a look on the bay.
Hmm, they seem to have gone up to $12+ including delivery unless I have lose my search mojo. Better value to buy one with soap in it now I guess.

WHAT. I'm not sure I want to be in this forum any longer.

Dissing Cella and NOW we have confessions of disliking Vegemite - that is just plain un-Australian!

I do like Proraso though - that's soft and Italian.

I think I shall keep my other un-Australian tendencies to myself.

Cella Challenge Chapter 4

Did the deed with Speick. Do I really need to tell you?

Back to Cella tomorrow. If it is my technique with the NEW hopefully it will have improved to such a degree that I can report a positive result. If nothing else, inspite of the insane lack of water here in WA, I want to avoid the circling Gondeliers.

Da Fat
Semogue 830 Boar 18/22mm knot in a fine looking acrylic handle
Rocket HD
Derby #3
Dickenson's WH
L'Oreal ASB

I reckon I'm on thin ice here...Mitchell's wool fat, semogue brush, derby blade. I must be a gun licence and a crucifix from the banhammer!

My diet of Derby and PSS is paying dividends the bit of neck irritation I stirred up playing with other blades has subsided nicely.

Gave the ol Astra's a bash on the weekend. A bit too sharp for me for everyday now, although usuable.
Cella
Omega's cheapest most plastickyiest boar.

Nothing to complain about. Cracking boar for a fiver.

Workday
Gill Yellow
Cella
Same boar
Better with a bit less fuss.

I can see where Pj is coming from, occasionally I get a bit of a fluffy lather with Cella and it might be less protective. But I put it down to user error - it happens with other soaps too, but not often.

AHHHHH - does this explain the mysterious foul smelling packet I got in the mail today. I admit that when i opened the envelope with NO RETURN ADDRESS and proceeded to unveil this -

I was rather concerned! :amazed: :amazed: :amazed: :amazed:

Is the choice of transport material significant

Have you tried it yet?

Have you tried it yet?

No, I've got the B&B Traveling Box at present so haven't had a chance - probably next week. I keep forgetting about the Arko too - will get in the mail tomorrow!
