Dare one utter the word "sabbatical" for 2025?

8 years and counting so far. Admittedly I did fall off the wet-shaving wagon for a while, but have recently rediscovered how nice vintage blades can be.

The only problem is that most of my nice soaps are losing their menthol hit - I might have to give up in a year or two and resupply.

Lately, I've been happily cruising along with what most of us would regard as a comparatively minimal selection of shave setups, and I don't really see that changing anytime soon. So I have resolved (ahahahah) not to make any shave-related purchases through 2025.

Let the mockery begin.

For the record, I currently have...
a selection of TroyCraft and Forgotten Art brushes (plus one or two others in need of occasional ventilation)
my Atelier Durdan Vestige and Wolfman WR4 (plus Blackland Vector and Sabre which have both been on ice the last few months),
Yardley, Czech & Speake (Valobra) Oxford & Cambridge, DRH Windsor, MdC Rose and (in the next few weeks) Eufros Aura de Lavanda, plus an unopened tub of NO Two Kings for when the seasons turn cooler.

I survived 2021 in this fashion, and abjectly failed to do so in 2023.

Does anyone have similar aspirations for the New Year? In blatant emulation of a certain other site, we could call it GRUYEre (Gentlemanly Restraint Until Year End).
I haven't bought anything new since 2020 and I still have enough soaps to last years even after I have sorted out what I don't want. I now just keep tubs of Proraso Whites, Chiseled Face, Stirling, Cella, RazoRock, Castle and Forbes and a tub of a so called vegan variety that I bought for some reason and have been always too scared to take out of the wrapping. I have the matching colognes for some of them as well. The soap I use 95% of the time is Cella. The same goes for my brushes, DE and straight razors. I have found the half dozen of each that work for me so don't need the rest. I am down on a couple of splashes so maybe my "sabbatical" can come to an end.

Mmh, reminds me of a spreadsheet I did pre retirement “When is Enough Enough”? 🤔 mind you always on the “look” for vintage Old Spice 👍
