Music while shaving??

Who else listens to some tunes while shaving?

Sunday evenings for me consist of a nice laid back shave after a shower, locked in the ensuite no wife, no child & some classic tunes. Today it was some zepplin. Just bliss.... Almost my stairway to heaven ;)

But how can you have a voyeur when you have locked the bathroom door?

Haha eggbert, maybe when I get a handle on a straight razor. Problem is if wife comes 4 year old will come... Silence & bliss destroyed!!!

I almost always rock some tuneskies while I shave, it's all a part of my zen ritual. It's the most common 10-15 mins I have without interruption, so I usually pick an album I want to listen to and get going on the first couple of tracks. Lately, I've been hitting up the old school New Orleans jazz and blues coming into rock'n'roll era. We're talking Dr John, Fats Domino, Professor Longhair. It's nice to reflect on some guys who literally brought about the invention of whole new genres of music when you're getting ready for work in the morning. Sufficiently de-motivating for a long day of procrastination.

Usually though, I listen to my version of pump-up music. Pearl Jam, the Stones, George Thorogood.

@Mong. Try a bit of Harry Connick Jr if you like some old style N'Orleans jazz.

I listen to the sounds of Pink Floyd, Portishead, or as above some Harry Connick Jr.

I try not to have anything too energised going when I'm shaving.

I reckon some good blues would go to bad either... I might step it up a notch blues, bourbon & Badger (not that I have a badger brush)

Some Floyd next week is an idea!!

Cheers for the tip Jug, I'll check out his stuff. Not someone I'd normally have considered, but the dude has some great pipes. I didn't realise he was from NOLA, but the dude is the real deal apparently. I'm just realising that I judged a book by its cover where he's concerned.

VanNek, blues is my first love on guitar so it gets a decent bit of attention from me. I love some of the old Buddy Guy/Junior Wells tunes, Albert King, Chuck Berry. That borderline between rock'n'roll, blues and country. It's hard to find players like that these days, but I like Joe Bonamassa and I think he comes close. Worth a look for anyone into classic rock and blues, he's in that old style of guitar player first and singer second.

Connick has been a staple performer of NOLA Jazz and blues since he was a kid. Quite the prodigy.

Mong, for some out there blues, with some country leanings, try Roy Buchanan. Billed as the world's greatest unknown guitarist.

Very familiar with Roy Buchanan! He might just be the reason I first got interested in the Telecaster, and look how that turned out. He did a great live album called Live Stock, mostly blues standards, and it's fantastic because it shows how good a really classy player can sound with just a guitar and amp. No fancy effects, no studio wizardry, just one cord and talent.

That's Roy. All the stage presence of stick, but he didn't see any need to get in the way of the guitar I spose.

They don't make blokes like that any more.
