Pears soap?

Also there is a chance that with all those positive comments about Pears maybe my expectations where too high?
Maybe, maybe not. There are lots of factors that could change the experience. In my case, I soak a flannel in hot water and hold it to my face for a slow count of 30 (until it begins to cool), warm it up again and plonk it on top of my head and leave it there while I load my brush. I then splash on some hot water and rub in some Pears soap and leave it there while I build my lather in the bowl. I then rinse it off with the wet flannel prior to lathering up my face and dome.

This all takes a while to describe, but apart from the first step, I'd be taking the same amount of time.

I concur with @rbscebu about the need to rinse it off, I don't believe Pears combines well with the actual lather.

That is a good preparation. I believe a hot towel and then keeping Pears soap for a few minutes can soften whiskers significantly. I have also seen especially barbers putting hot towel after applying preshave.
Generally I think I rush too much my prep process. Shaving takes time anyway so I probably just need to add one more minute😂

I have oily skin, so I have to wash my face a few times daily. I buy 1L (or larger) bottles of liquid hydrating facewashes, depending on which one is on sale. I used Dermaveen, CeeraVe, QV, Cetaphil and other brands. I didn't notice a huge difference between the brands. Essentially, they do all the same thing: clean the skin but don't dry it. I use the same for pre-wash before shaving. Since facewash is only used for facewashing, each bottle lasts months.
