Haven't posted in a good while but my normal life come to a screaming halt six weeks ago when I arrived home from a work trip and the dogs all wanted to say G'day at once. So a handful of dogs, turning on the spot whilst not realising I had a foot firmly planted and crunch, a classic tib/fib explosion, down I went like a sack of potatoes. Spiral fracture in the tibia and smashed fibula. The fix - apparently tibial nails are all the rage (see attached image). Now you know that as soon as they're pulling out drills, hammers, screws etc for surgery, it's not going to be pretty. So over the last six weeks opioids are my friend, not a very good friend, but a very necessary friend, whom I am still showing to the door. Oh, and lets not forget the ketamine trip in ER when they did a temporary set on my leg whilst waiting two days for surgery. Everyone in within cooee would've heard my singing/screaming. I've decided that torture is not for me.....name, rank and serial number and whatever else you want to know...... Kudos to Mrs Pbgoose who stuck by me and talked me through it.
So my house looks like a centre for mobility aids, my favourite being a borrowed lift chair, which I've spent a large percentage of my recent life in.
And Gillette disposables got a look in when I got home and had a shower, apparently they don't wash or shower you any more in hospital so I was a bit on the nose and bearded by the time I got home. Shower shaving was definetly a thing until I got a little more mobile.
Life throws stuff like this at you, makes you stop and gain a whole new appreciation for a lot of things, like the finer accoutrements of wet shaving.......

Ooh. :eek: Sorry to hear about that. Your x-ray pic looks like someone has been spending too much time at Bunnings. Hope you heal up soon... 🤞

Thanks @Gargravarr (y), unfortunately there's nothing quick about it, probably talking 3 mnths off work. Had fracture clinic the other day and the surgeon was shaking his head looking at the latest X-rays so I'm going, 'what, are we on track?' and he responds 'yes, on track, it's just going to be slow, it would look a whole lot better if you were 25, but you're not......':LOL::cry:
The Bunnings comment probably wasn't that far out either. Post surgery one of the surgeons said 'just as well you're tall'. I said 'why is that'. They responded 'well, because your tibia is longer the nail sits down into the tibia, but if you were shorter the nail may protrude a little and aggravate the knee'. I'm thinking 'Whaat!! Sounds like they need a trades consultant in the operating theatre for quality control.:oops:

  • Razor : Yaqi Katana SE head metal alloy?/Handle Razorock Ti Halo.(China)
  • Blade : 7 oclock black platinum snaped in half (1). (India)
  • Brush : Yaqi Mocha-Macha Synthetic 26mm . (China)
  • Soap : Fine Accoutrements Latigo (Tallow) . (Italy)
  • Aftershave : 4711 Original Eau De Cologne Splash. (Germany)
  • Weight : 64 grams. (Head/Handle)
Hi all,
I had strange overly aggrasive/efficient shave today with the Yaqi katana SE I didn't know what blade to use
so I snaped a 7 oclock in two and loaded it as it seemed to fit on close inspection it had a big blade gap and exposure.
(See pics 2&3) but I battled on "bad move" on the first pass WTG ok but to much blade it shave was super close with 1 nick.
Ok but not good second pass ATG was like running a very very sharp pocket knive up the side of my neck and face.
But I battled on nicked my jaw line both sides and my upper left cheak!!
Like just about all long time shaver I pride myself on not cutting my face up.
The lesson here is find out which blade fits the razor before use just had to google but No.
Check the blade angle in the head or else.
Ive since been told subi shaves on youtube has a blade hack for this razor head.
So no blade fit this razor? WTF.

On the good side the Fine Latigo soap is great good cushioning and aftershave feel.

The 4711 splash in nice with a lasting scent and well priced.

1 pass WTG 1 AGT done no touchups unfortunately 4 nicks a disaster.
Enjoy your shave.
Cheers.

Merry Christmas to all wherever you are, wishing you and yours a blessed, safe, and joyous Christmas and a New Year filled with peace, health and happiness - and great shaves of course!

Pre-shave; Warm shower, face rinse with MWF bar soap.

Soap; Australian Private Reserve, Idoru shave soap.

Cologne/EDP; Australian Private Reserve, Idoru EDP
Moisturiser;
Attar (Perfume Oil);
Shave;
To say todays shave was anything less than Humble would be a lie.

I was fortunate to ‘’win’’ the PIF from the generosity of @Mark1966 and @alfredus. To make it even more P&C orientated the brush was x @TroyTools and the razor has been owned by @MrT @Gargravarr and @StratMan.

The EDP and soap was made for a late Member Tim / @Draco Noir by the late Dan / @todras, so very Humbling and Sad while shaving, when I reflected on 2 passed Ambo friends, taken in their 30’s and 40’s (both with pre-teen children) by F-ing Cancer.

The shave soap was easily lathered and very slick, I could easily of used my Kamisori, the scent was like a hint of woods with a touch of lemon, the EDP was strong very amber scented and according to my daughters was ‘’very nice’’ 3 hours later.

I will use the soap and EDP again for my 70th in January as it’s so special knowing the history.

Merry Christmas.
