Shave of the day

Well what fun life can be. All leading up to a shave. Got over the dreaded lurg and managed to walk into a tooth abcess. Yummy really really bloody painful - only thing I can relate it to is kidney stones. Anyway certainly didnt feel like shaving at the time. Got to the dentist who wont touch a tooth with an active infection - got some antibiotics and told to hang in. Lovely advice - Two days later and the pain begins to lessen - celebrated with a chicken and corn roll (dont know why but I have a weakness for these things). Two hours later and I notice a few itchy bumps on my stomach. 24 hours later and I have itchy bumps from toes to earlobes. Give up on the home remedies and head to medical centre - two jabs in the ass and a handful of pills. All looking good - must be shaving time soon I am beginning to look like one of the Beagle Boys (for those of you old enough). Wake up Monday - yay no rash on body, but bottom lip looks like Botox gone wrong - no shave. Next day bottom lip is terrific - chin the size of a watermelon - no shave. Next day top lip looked like I had a run in with a Mods right cross (as there is three of you you can choose which one) - no shave.
Finally today all was settled and despite my promise there as no bloody way I was going to experiment with anything. So the shave was just like all the rest of my SOTDs. But it felt wonderful. Still had a few unseen bumps on the face that the SE took rapid care of.
I am now smooth faced and happy to be back in the human race. (To add insult to it all my new you beaut PC setup arrived in the midst of all this and I haven't even plugged it in yet)>

If I had the energy I woulda shot myself.

Given the interest in shooting gthomas maybe that should be the subject of a seperate thread. Meanwhile back on topic (typing that never fails to satisfy):

Coupla shaves with the Streamline for shaves 2 and 3 with the GEM blade.

Vie Long horsey and Wee Scot.

Tabac cream and La Toja.

Great shave and great shave.

Yesterday:

HD, Yellow and LaToya. Omega Baby Pro for the lathering.

Pretty good, but not as close or smooth as the other stuff.

Today:

Flare SS, Vokshod, Pro Red. Vulfix TGN Special.

Good result but takes longer, could be better. SS are just too mild, was curious to see how it'd go with the Red, but as ever razor, tends to slide over the lather in places. Had to go over and over to get shaved. Looking like a re-pif. I've exhausted my experience with Gillettes, and they just can't cut it.

Standard Fatboy/PSS/Jermyn/730HD.

Can't complain at all :D

Time to go SE then - just ask JugV2 how well they can cut. :)

Too late. Tried that one already. Lent him a Featherweight. No cigar. It's just one razor with him. Maybe I should lend him my 7O'Clock bakelite razor. It also works better than any Gillette I've tried so far. One day we'll ween him off his HD. I think deep down he's a bit scared too. Can you imagine what it would be like if he really did allow himself to like Gillettes? There'd be more Gillettes heading towards Perth than you can imagine.

Ah well different strokes for different folks I guess.Although for the life of me I cannot see why anyone would not feel they were getting a good shave from a Slim. Mind you I haven't tried an HD (whatever that may be). Still if the man knows what he likes then the least we can do is leave him in peace to enjoy.

One of these: HD, for Heavy Duty. A manly razor for men. It's even chromed up. They know what a man likes.

Are you talking about me?

The EJ appears to have a very similar face/head (?)

Now I'm back in Aus, I will have to try the godrej all over again now that I can have a hot shave.

I went back to the hot water / EJ / Astra / La Toya / FS Finest / Floid combo this evening, and the shaves I had abroad just don't compare. I'm blaming half of the difference on the razor, another 50% on the blade, and 6/12s on the cold water.

It appears I can't do some testing here in Aus, as Mrs Egg appears to have kept the flare tip, and the boar brush with her, and it will be a couple of months before I can get them back.

They are, they're Merkur's heads, I believe. But EJ handles are a lot lighter, so the balance is different. I didn't like them. Some say EJ and Muhle finish them better, and that might be true, but you don't shave with the chrome.

Quite true.

I have an EJ DE86 and I prefer to use the Merkur Progress simply because it's a heavier unit. Lets the head do the work.

Still, I do like the EJ. Nice appearance.

............Still if the man knows what he likes then the least we can do is leave him in peace to enjoy.

If we did that we'd all have one razor, one soap and one brush. Boring. He's weened off Semoques. I'm sure we can ween him off the HD. .....Heavy Duty..... Sounds more like the title of a Chuck Norris movie.
