That you did, and I didn't doubt it. Just great to experience it for myself.

Glad it worked well for you.

Will be hard to improve on one of those with that pedigree!

Depends what you load it with Mark. A Bleue or a Silver Blue might be pretty good, although a Spoiler would be magnificent.

Had a wonderful shave this morning. Use the CJB blade handle and the feather proguard blade. Really like this setup. No muss, no fuss. It a real 2 pass BBS. 1wtg and 1atg. Clean, smooth. Erasmic shave cream and a Omaga 48 brush(to big). Proguards are great.

Tabac, boar, Gem fw SE, gillette ss, The birthday boy TM method.

The SE does a great job up first. The DE is easier for me in finicky spots. Great TM shave.

The birthday boy TM method.

. Great TM shave.

Nice to see my 62 years on this planet have had a purpose - not a grand purpose it is true but I have brought small pleasures to a tiny group of people so I am content.

Razor
Merkur HD

Blade
Personna Platinum (Red)

Brush
Shavemac Silvertip

Cream
Geo F. Trumper Eucris Shaving Cream Tube

After Shave
Geo F. Trumper Sandalwood Skin Food

Quick, clean, no nicks/cuts, good shave! Almost finished my Eucris tube and might migrate to a soap as my primary soon. Maybe Mitchell's Wool Fat or a TOBS soap. Hmm.

Back on topic.
Arko'ed the face then set to with the Boar. Being a man who likes to live dangerously I loaded the Slim set to 7 with a Gillette 7 o'clock yellow form St Petersberg no less and struck out on a total DE shave.
Quite s good end result by I really missed the noise of the SE blade and the feel of the DE afterwards.till I will stick to this combo till the blade dies and then might lash out on what I understand is meant to be a really good blade the Gillette Blueue (sp?).
I promise not to bore the board with every last stroke, only if I find something interesting.

Today I tried one of my Super Speeds with a Derby.

Result- pretty good. Not quite the wow factor of the Rocket but still a good solid shave.

Friday morning. I have a straight razor that I bought because of different write ups that I read about it. It's an old razor: Imperial Razor for Germany.looked almost new when it came. Now I know why. This AM was about the 5th try with it. Honed and stropped it. New stone this time, new paste, this time. And still 'not good'. Took out my Feather artist SS and with one pass it did what 6 couldn't do with the Imperial.
Soap: also not my favorite. The Body Shop Maca Root Cream.
Brush: horse #6
Alum
AS: Clubman
Balm: Nivea Replenishing
Think it's my last try with the Imperial ( that dog won't hunt)

I had my first DE shave done completely by feel today. I shaved in the shower without a mirror, depending on my knowledge of my beard grain, and a rub of the face between passes.

Used the EJ 89, FS Finest brush, (old) green proraso, and a Shark blade on its second shave.

Surprisingly good shave.

I'm using two razors these days.

Merkur Progress
R41

Both have a new Bleue, the Merkur set to four.

The R41 went first, I let the weight (which is bugger all, it really is a light handle) be the guide. This time I was slow and careful, and was rewarded for it by not cutting myself at all.

Next pass was the Progress. A heavier handle and I threw this around my face like a Thai hooker.

I'm still using the Proraso Red as I love this stuff.

I finished with some Muhle Sandalwood AS lotion, which I doubt had any Sandalwood in it but it was a nice yet slightly greasy finish.

Something different again:

Gillette Slim (set to 4) with Rapira
Semogue 1470
TOBS Sandalwood cream
TOBS Sandalwood aftershave gel

This was rather impressive- pretty close to the Rocket HD with Astra shave. As always, WTG and ATG passes are all that I need.

Thought it was about time I tried an adjustable razor, given that my Fatboy should be here any day now and I'm looking forward to trying that

Derby #3
Merkur 34C
Palmolive Gut 2,2
Semogue 830
WH
Nivea Sensitive ASB

Derby through my weeks beard like buttah. Gut 2,2 ist gut! Semogue 830 is gut, Nivea Sensitive ASB is really gut - Been a while since I visited it.

Easy shaves and lazy days...shame about the nights with screaming bubs!

Had to rush my shave again this evening so I decided to use a DE.
Razor: Gillette Superspeed Red Tip B-1
Blade: RAPIRA
Soap: 1st time! dalan d'men cream from Turkey. Very nice cream. Good lather. Nice cushion.
Brush: Turkish Horse #6
Alum
AS: Clubman
Balm: Barbasol Pacific Rush
1st time in quite a while that I used the Red Tip. Still a very nice razor!

Last three shaves have been with the fat handle Tech and a Personna blade.

The first shave was pretty bad- I wasn't sure if it was the razor, the blade or my technique.

The second and third shaves were much better, so I think the Tech just needed a different angle compared to the various TTO razors I've been using recently.

Now I have to choose between a mint Fatboy or a mint Aristocrat Jr. for my next shave.

Well, after 12 shaves I retired my Spoiler blade yesterday and swapped in a Perma-Sharp.

Lets just say that going back from a Spoiler was not fun. Still the PSS did okay and I still look presentable today.

  • Fatboy on 7
  • Fresh PermaSharp Super
  • Proraso Red
  • Smoggie 730HD
