I thank yopu for your kind offer but I have more with the yellow splodge on them than I am likely to use in the forseeable future.

Yep, that's the ony problem with those damn things....they last for bloody ever!

Just to knock the Spoiler/pre Spoiler thing on the head. They are the SAME BLADE... See the photo below. If I'd photoshopped out the date codes, you wouldn't be able to tell which one was which. I've used them both and they shave identically. The yellow splodge was just marketing hype on the later packaging.

I'm assuming the L code indicates an earlier date so the one on the left is a pre-spoiler? It had two applicable patents running rather than the measely one for the Spoiler. We'll call them Gillette double patents (GDPs) and just watch the price sky rocket.

Correct PJ. You should be in marketing! GDP has a nice ring to it, so nice I'm happy to move my stash at only $2.00 per blade... :amazed:

It has been 21 days since I last shaved. Despite my best efforts it appears I will only be able to cultivate the thinnest of beards.

As I am not currently involved in distributing recreational drugs or the manufacture of pornography...

It will get the chop this weekend in an Ingram's/Proraso menthol blast!

Single passes? You mght as well grow a beard like everybody else.

I've worn a goatee for a few years now actually. Not a fan of the full beard though- too itchy/scratchy.

Have recently been enjoying a combo of my 34C with Rapira blades. Very good results, considering the price of the blades. Soap/cream wise I've been alternating between Arko and Ingram. I'm convinced that Ingram is pretty much UK's answer to Arko- cheap, and a great performer. I enjoy the menthol uppercut too, really invigorating.

I've been playing around with Honeybee Soap lately, and despite liking both the scent and the performance I'm gunna have to stop. Something in the formulation is burning my skin. It's a shame, this soap is nicely slick and moisturizing.

I think I'm wedged firmly in the "I really need to shave" trough. But I'm like a month in. To persist or to slay the prickly beast, that is the question?

If you are a month in and still undecided give up - a month in should have all facial skin covered in a luxurious growth not a prickly beast.

I didn't realise the Thomas method now involved hurting my feelings :sad2:

Are the cleanshaven always so cruel? Was I myself once so quick to cut down my fellow testosterone deficient man?

Ah the imponderables of the pogonic!

You do realise that GT is on all kinds of pills. Happy pills, uppers, downers, party pills you name it. I'm sure there are a few testosterone enriched performance enhancing ones in there too. Apparently he can put his crutches aside and bench press way beyond his age.

Alternate solution: join the dark side and keep a goatee.

Advantages:

-You have a beard, but can still enjoy shaving
-Easier to maintain than full beard
-More likely to be acceptable in 'white collar' work places
-People think you are evil
-Confuses relatives/friends who haven't seen you in a while
-People will tell you that you look like a famous person (true story- I've been told a few times by different people I look like Edward Norton).

Disadvantages:

-None

Whippersnappers?

I'm old enough to know that its fun to stay at the Y.M.C.A

Anyhow, plenty off topic now!

As mention previously, I'm having a good run with the rapia / 34c combo. Planning to give the 38C another go later in the week- last time I used it I found it good, but not great.

Been altenating between a vintage Shick and a pre-spoiler Gillette. The Shick just keeps going. It's ridiculous. I've forgotten how many shaves. Every time I think this has to be the last one it ends up giving a really nice smooth sha and I keep it in there. Admittedly it's not shaving as close as it was but it's outlasted a Spoiler already. Damn you Australian post office for losing a few hundred of these fantastic blades! There, I've said it Mark!

By the way, to date I can't tell the difference between the vintage Gillette stainless blades so have to agree that the only difference (aside from a price difference of at least 50c blade) between the Spoiler and it's predecessor is a splodge of yellow paint. Beautifully smooth shaves from both.

.

And many welcomes to the Old Farts Shaving Society.

I too have shaved.
Used some Erasmic for reasons unkown - a little dry going on but a touch more water on the brush took care of that.
Then of course my inability to count led me to my SE blade that was past its use by date - not so much shaving as scraping Ouchy Ouchy.
However saved by the second blade in the TM regime - the Spoiler (one of the inexpensive ones) in the Slim. Don't really have to count the Spoiler shaves as it is only used now as the second blade so I figure is lifetime is measured in months.

All good fun.
