Shave of the Day - 2025

I got a warning the other day when I private messaged a member and put the title.
Funny as F—k.
But wrote the full word I wasn’t aware they check your private messages that was on that big American forum.
Eww, reading your PMs is creepy. :( Some of these language Nazis need to get out more. Old, old Anglo-Saxon words that were good enough for Chaucer are good enough for me.

Pre-shave: Hot flannel, Valobra Glicerlanolina
Brush: Forgotten Art "Tarkine" shoat
Soap: Eufros Aura de Lavanda Spanish Shavers LE
Razor: Blackland Sabre V1 L2
Blade: Personna GEM Stainless
Post-shave: TND witch hazel, homebrew moisturiser, La Roche-Posay Anthelios SPF 50+ Invisible Fluid, Oxford & Cambridge cologne

I may have muttered darkly about moving my Vector on, but I'm keeping the Sabre...

Selling the Vector, it's not that long ago that you rated the Vector as the best razor on the face of the earth.

I love my Sabre V1 L2. but I love my Vector even more, :giggle:

Well, you knew I'd change my mind about that when you sent me your WR4 to try out

Fair enough. I haven't made up my mind about the Vector, I'd probably get a case of vendor's remorse, since mine is a pre-2022 model, so it's not as fussy about blades as the newer model. I have a lot of Proline blades. :smug:

Saturday Evening 1/03/25

  • Razor : Gillette Super Speed 1953 (Y3) Nickel plated brass.
  • Blade : Voskhod Teflon coated. (2)
  • Brush : Yaqi caramel cat's whiskers synthetic.
  • Soap : Proraso Eucalyptus Menthol.
  • Balm : T.N Dickenson's witch hazel .
  • Razor weight : 56 grams.
Hi all,
Good shave Yesterday with the Super Speed this one is average to good example with just
a little plating lose under the base plate unlike the one I sold on BST witch was near to perfect (1954 Z1).
The Super Speed original is a bit more efficient than the later regular flare tip model about on par with
the red tip.
Just an iconic razor from what many consider the golden era of razors.
The Voskhod blade worked well on its 2nd shave with no grabbing or scraping.
One pass WTG/AGT and a few touch ups DONE.

The Proraso green is a classic shaving cream with that oh so fresh post shave feel.
Splash on a bit of witch hazel ready for stay home movie night.
The misses wants to watch "Wicked". 🥱
Well I can't pick every movie.

Cheers.

Not another former grail razor. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
I vaguely remember a pic that @Errol posted a few years back that suggested he may have had the Vector in frequent circulation, and as of Oct 2023, it still appeared in his top 3 SE razors. Lately, I've come to enjoy lighter razors, and my WR4 is much lighter than my SS Vector. If I had the Ti version, I might reconsider, but I wouldn't want a new one, now that Shane has diddled with the specs.

Definitely one of my favorite razors. It's smoother and a tad more efficient than the American Tech and makes a great daily driver.
I agree with you there @klinker the British one is the better of the two in my opinion as well.
It’s like they took the American tech and said how can we make this better and succeeded.
I love seeing the old Gillettes in shape of the day. I’m sure we all do.
Cheers
