Here I'm getting ready to cut the hedges for the last time till next May. Planning the appointment for the winterization of the cars(including studded snow tires in a couple months. And having the furnace and snow blower toned! Sad.

Ignore Eggbert - he is in Darwin where it is tropical and hot all year round. Those of us in more sensible places (such as the Australian CAPITAL CITY - Canberra) haev winters that go down to -5C and summers up to 40C with both a proper spring and fall (autumn) in between.

The winter preparations sound pretty serious but then again New York State can get pretty cool. I was in the US for Christmas a couple of years ago. Visited NYC, Washington DC and then in-laws in Fargo ND - now THAT was pretty cool!

Back on topic gentleman!

shaving.ie Chrome Silvertip brush
Proraso Red
Gillette Super Speed Red Tip
Astra Superior Platinum
Nivea Post Shave Balm

3rd and final shave with the Astra. Still very happy with the results, and am yet to cut or nick myself.

Will be trying a Rapira in the red tip next.

ok nice and smooth again...

Gem SE and 34C w/derby
Semogue 830
Palmolive SC and Godrej Rich Foam SC - This is a seriously good cheap combo.
Loreal ASB

Not that different to usual in the end. Haven't done the shave cream mix up for a while. Really nice lather for stuff that is a couple bucks a tube.

Back onto Permasharps for a while now I think. Really should break out the slim.

Semogue 1470
Stub of Arko (thanks Mark)
Gillette Super Speed Red Tip
Rapira SS
Nivea Post Shave Balm

Well, this was good fun

I had attempted a face lather once before (with TOBS Sandalwood cream) and I failed miserably. Using a soap stick makes it much easier though! All I did was:

  • Wet face with warm water (had just had a shower, but wanted to make sure there was plenty of water)
  • Rub Arko stick all over face for about 20 seconds
  • Lather up with the 1470 (which had been soaking in warm water for the first two steps

I easily had enough lather for two passes (which is all I need). Got a great result from my normal WTG/XTG routine.

The only negatives:
  • The lather was a bit dry overall. I put this down to the 1470 having rather poor water retention capabilities compated to the silvertip I've been using recently. Will adjust for this next time
  • While I love pretty much everything about the Arko stick, I did find that my skin was a bit drier at the end of the shave than it has been using other soaps/creams. The Nivea sorted this out though

So yeah, overall very happy with the result. Good to know that I can shave without the need for a bowl (although I still like using the bowl, not sure why)

Yeah I find Arko nieces more water than other soaps/sticks that I have.

My SOTD:

Merkur HD
Gillette 7’o'clock blue
Whipped Dog black badger
MWF

Face lathered and had a pretty good shave. Irritation on the neck as I pushed the ATG more than I should of :embarrest:

Finished up with Witch Hazel, and Clinique Edt!

So I thought I'd give my Shavemac a bit of a break, and I've changed brushes over to the #406.

Along with shaving of a morning I've stopped using the scuttle, as I don't find it as time efficient to heat it, drain, refill, lather in, then clean up after. Instead I took to lathering in my left palm, though again with changing to the boar, I've also started to face lather with the Limes cream.

Wow, the difference is amazing. I'm much more in tune with how wet or dry the lather is, it whips up much nicer and noticeably quicker, and holds together on the brush much longer, long after I've finished shaving and working my way through the clean up process.

I'm a fan of the face lather now, the scuttle is more just for presentation and wank factor on the ensuite bench, LMFAO.

I went the single razor today after having used a combo of the Merkur Progress and R41 for the past few weeks.

R41
Voskhod on it's third shave
GFT Lime
Smoggie Boar
Floid AS to finish

I did two passes, WTG and XTG.

I ended up with a lovely smooth shave, no nicks, very happy with the result.

I love a good face lather lol, now it's all I do!

Merkur HD
Personna Red
Proraso Red
Culmak (presumably) badger brush
Nivea Sensitive Post Shave Balm

This is more or less the case every time, but this was my best shave so far. I like the sandalwood Proraso significantly more than the green, it seemed just a bit more slick and left my face feeling pleasantly soft. Nice scent, though it did fade quickly. Maybe I'm just getting better at making lather, but this whipped up really easily and felt thicker and more protective on my face. Pretty stoked with this cream, I can see why it has so many fans. I think it'll even tempt my old man away from green that he's used for years.

I also liked the Personna Red Israeli blade, but it's a bit hard to compare now to the few blades I've tried in the past. It's become clear that my technique having improved is probably largely responsible for me liking both this blade and the Personna lab blue blade I tried before this. I need to try the Astra and Derby again to get a proper comparison, or maybe even do half my face with each next time as an experiment.

Whoever it was that recommended the Nivea balm, you're a champion. It's been really good for helping with the ever lowering amount of razor rash/burn, I'm happy to report that it's almost not a problem anymore.

Vie long horsey badger
palmolive Gut 2,2
Gillette Rocket HD
Personna Blue
WH
Proraso Splash

With the warm weather yesterday the proraso seemed like the go. The old gillette loved the personna blue. Probably my best shave with that razor to date.

good times.

I've branched out from using two razors.

Today I used a Bleue in the R41.

I felt tugging on my neck, towards the bottom, but I just took it slow as I was probably going to fast.

Anyway with GFT Limes and a Smoggie I had such a smooth shave, I still keep checking it to make sure it is as smooth as I felt this morning.

Almost time for the Proraso to come back out, as surely the weather is getting hotter.

Had good shave this morning! Mowed down 4 days of growth (lazy weekend).

Merkur HD
Gillette 7o'clock Blue
Whipped Dog Black Badger
Gzd Berber

Facelathered and had a good irritation free shave!

Finished with Nivea Balm.

Today was a first day of a period of higher duties at work so I wanted to look good lol
